Lacy MacAuley joined Second Story in summer of 2016 after a two-year career hiatus in the Blue Ridge Mountains and overseas in Turkey. She is a media and communications professional with a passion for amplifying the work of those working for a better world. With a BA in International Relations specializing in World Development Studies, she is committed to promoting local, living economies that prioritize people and planet. She’s done communications work for a variety of progressive organizations through the progressive PR firm Massey Media LLC and as a single contractor. She’s worked with groups such as Project Vote and ACORN, United for Peace and Justice, Jubilee USA, Mountain Justice Summer, and the Solidarity Center (international affiliate of the AFL-CIO).
Lacy worked for the Institute for Policy Studies, an historic think tank, from early 2011 through the end of 2013. She was a founding participant and media working group member at Occupy Wall Street. In the Washington DC area, she has facilitated communications for organizations such as the Washington Peace Center, the DC Humanities Council and the DC Commission on the Arts and Humanities, and Occupy DC. Lacy was chosen as “Reporter/Activist of the Year 2010” by Press Action for her work at the Toronto G20 Summit.
Lacy also loves to delve into yoga and meditation practice, be with her family, make art and poetry, and spend time in the great outdoors.
