Open Door

Open Door Information Tours are opportunities for us to share more about our programs and provide tours of our emergency home for teens located at 2100 Gallows Road, Vienna, Virginia.

Visitors will hear from our staff, learn about issues faced by local youth experiencing homelessness and other crises, and see how our programs are helping to provide urgent support. We will also share information about the various ways you can get involved.

The best way to learn about our programs is to attend in-person to see our programs in action. However, if you can’t attend in-person, we also offer virtual sessions and regularly update this page with new opportunities.

Can’t make it to one of our scheduled sessions? No problem! We offer private Open Door Tours which are perfect for groups, organizations, and others. Please reach out to us if you are unable to attend one of our scheduled slots or if you would like to learn more.

Frequently Asked Questions

We have both in-person and virtual sessions. The date and time of the currently scheduled sessions are shown in the “Open Door Session” section of the sign-up form above.

No! Open Door Information Sessions are not fundraising events, rather they are opportunities for us to tell you more about our programs.

Attendees can expect to hear from leadership and staff, learn about issues faced by youth experiencing homelessness and other crises, right here in Fairfax County, and see how our programs are helping our community. If you choose to attend an in-person session, you can expect to get a glimpse into our Second Story for Teens in Crisis program.

  • People interested in supporting youth experiencing homelessness or another crisis.
  • People interested in volunteering at Second Story. Please note that this session is NOT a volunteer orientation, and we will not be going in depth into the volunteer process. However, this is an important first step, and we encourage anyone interested in volunteering to attend.
  • Supporters who have not yet attended a session.
  • Supporters who want to know how to spread the word about our mission.

Some of the content references abuse, gang violence, and human trafficking, so we ask that you use your discretion when bringing children. Additionally, these tours are created for members of the community who are looking to learn about what we do rather than youth looking to access our programs.

If you are a young person interested in our programs, please visit our Programs page or contact us.

Unfortunately, there will not be time for questions during the session, but we will follow up after the meeting and can answer questions then.

Ambassadors are people who have attended an Open-Door Information Session and want to help further the mission and vital work of Second Story. Ambassadors are an integral part of the Second Story community. Learn more about serving as a 2S ambassador
