Second Story for Teens in Crisis is part of Second Story, a nonprofit that equips local youth and families with the critical tools, housing, and communities of support needed to achieve lasting self-sufficiency. Second Story offers both residential and community-based programs. Our Teens in Crisis program is the only emergency home in Northern Virginia for teens aged 13 to 17, providing shelter, safety, counseling, and support during critical moments in a young person’s life.
Second Story for Teens in Crisis is hiring two part-time (20 hours per week) Overnight Support Staff. The ideal candidate is reliable, adaptable, compassionate, and collaborative with strong communication, problem-solving, and conflict resolution skills.
Responsibilities:
- Remain awake to assist the overnight counselor with residential duties, such as conducting bed checks, answering the phone, and helping residents with their morning routines
- Maintain a clean and tidy living environment by organizing and restocking supplies, plus cleaning various areas of the building and completing other tasks as needed (e.g. laundry)
Schedule (days and hours are non-negotiable):
- Option #1: Saturdays and Sundays from 10:30pm-8:30am
- Option #2: Mondays and Tuesdays from 10:30pm-8:30am
Qualifications:
- REQUIRED: Must be willing to undergo a background investigation prior to employment and become certified in CPR/First Aid
- REQUIRED: Prior experience in the mental health field, especially working with teens and/or residential settings
- PREFERRED: Spanish language fluency
Compensation: $20 per hour
