We need your help. Second Story faces difficult decisions. We want to keep you informed and engage you in the conversation because we believe that solutions are possible when we work together.
A message from Jade:
Second Story has been navigating challenges behind the scenes this past year. And while I have deep confidence in our ability to weather hard seasons, I also know we are stronger together. That’s why I want to invite you into this conversation.
Second Story’s Teen Center has been around for 28 years. Our other prevention-focused youth programs have been operating for between 12 and 22 years in neighborhoods where families live at or below the poverty line and youth are at high risk for drugs, trafficking, gangs, and abuse. These programs are a vital part of our continuum of care, designed to help prevent youth from entering systems of homelessness and reduce the need for deeper County intervention and services.
Just last year, these programs served nearly 400 students and provided 9,466 sessions that included tutoring, leadership training, college visits, assistance with college and job applications, life-skills development, and meals.
At the same time, many of these students participated in our Youth Council by volunteering, advocating for their communities, and educating their peers on issues like opioids, safe dating, and pedestrian safety. With programs like these in place, the possibilities for these young people are endless. And yet, budget cuts threaten our future.
We need your help right now to see what is possible. Two anonymous donors have stepped up to match donations up to $15,000 between now and the end of June, when our fiscal year draws to a close. Now is the perfect time to double your impact. Our goal is to raise $50,000 by June 30. Please consider donating today and helping us spread the word by sharing this email with friends and family.
