Save the date for our annual Beacon of Hope Breakfast!

Save the date for October 15 to hold the door open for hope for local youth and families who need it most.

For 54 years, Second Story has worked alongside our community to open doors for young people experiencing homelessness, families in crisis, survivors of violence, and neighbors living at or below the poverty line. Today, those doors are at risk of closing as nonprofits across the country have been hit hard and key intervention programs serving our region’s most vulnerable have been deprioritized.

Mark your calendar for October 15 from 8:00 to 9:00 a.m. for the Beacon of Hope Breakfast to hear inspiring stories from program participants, staff, and volunteers, and discover how, together, we can ensure every young person who reaches out for help finds an open door.

Help hold the door open for a young mother seeking safety, a teen experiencing homelessness, a young person balancing school while helping put food on their family’s table, or a teenager in crisis with nowhere else to turn.

We cannot afford to let another door close. Your presence matters. Your generosity makes a difference. Let’s keep hope within reach.

We make every dollar count. The direct support of young people, their families and their communities, is our first priority. Here are examples of how your donation may be used.

$20,000

Three high school students experiencing homelessness receive a full year of rental assistance and support services so they can remain in school and graduate with their class.

$1,000

One teenager receives a safe haven, warm bed, food, and round-the-clock support for five nights at Second Story for Teens in Crisis, or
Eight months of therapy for a young woman in the Second Story for Young Mothers program.

$500

One teen receives daily counseling during a three-week stay at Second Story for Teens in Crisis, or
Twenty counseling sessions for the children and teens who are at-risk and participating in our after-school programs.

$100

Three teens receive a therapy session at Second Story for Teens in Crisis, or
Two weeks of food for a young mother and her child at Second Story for Young Mothers.
