Soraya began her career as a youth volunteer with the Red Cross in Ecuador, where she developed a passion for working with underserved youth and supporting their educational and personal development. This early experience inspired her to pursue a career in social services and community-based programming.
Soraya graduated from the Inter American University in Puerto Rico and continued her education in International Relations at the City University of New York. She later earned a master’s degree in Family Educational Counseling from the International University of La Rioja – Spain.
Soraya joined Second Story in 2006, beginning her journey with the Culmore Safe Youth Project. Over the years, she has taken on progressively greater leadership responsibilities, serving as the Culmore Teen Center Program Coordinator and later as a Program Manager. Today, Soraya serves as Vice President of Community-Based Services, providing leadership and oversight for programs that support children, youth, families, and communities.
Throughout her career, Soraya has remained committed to empowering underserved youth and families by expanding access to educational opportunities, supportive services, and community resources.
